The Digital Currency Labor (DCI) at the MIT Electoral media Lab on Wednesday announced a lightweight Lightning Network computer programs called “ Lit”. The new client does not require some full Bitcoin node to be able to like other Lightning companies do and it even has got a handy wallet built in.

“ This is the first alpha v0. 1 release of ignited, ” its Github page states, describing the software as being “ a Lightning computer you can run on your own. ” The project started in Nov 2012 last year and currently has 12 developers contributing to it.
In a blog post , MIT DCI open-source developer and analysis scientist Tadge Dryja discharged Lit and urged all people to test the software. The co-author of the original Lightning Online circle paper and former PRESIDENT of Lightning Labs have written:
We promote people to try out lit, carry out channels, and see how functions.
While recognizing that Lit is not even so reliable enough to move the around safely, he considered “ it is at a claim where it can be fun and illuminating to try it out with examination networks to get a feel so it it can do. ”
How is Lit up ‘ Lightweight’?
Lightning Network nodes request running a full Bitcoin computer which can be cumbersome and highly-priced, Dryja explained. Citing that will Lit can connect to the existing full nodes, he noticed:
